Description
Fishponds Cottage is a house that dates back to the 16th century or earlier, with cladding added in the late 17th century and an extension made in the mid-20th century. The building features a timber frame with large panels and tension bracing, which is exposed and filled with plaster and red and blue brick, some of which is in English bond. The roof is plain tiled, and the structure consists of three framed bays along with a firebay and entry passage bay. It stands two storeys high on a ragstone plinth, topped with a hipped roof and gablets, and has a central stack. To the right, there is a one-storey and attic extension with an end stack. Each floor has two wooden casements, and there is a dormer and an additional wooden casement on the ground floor to the right. A boarded door is located in a hipped, glazed porch to the right, while a weather-boarded outshot to the left features a glazed door. Inside, the cottage retains a full frame, inglenook fireplaces, and some surviving mullioned windows.
