Description

The Sack House is a 14th-century timber-framed house that is plastered and features external imitation timber framing arranged in square panels. The roof is hipped at both ends and covered with peg tiles, featuring an off-centre ridge line and a small stack. The building has one storey and attics, with a later extension added to the rear of the northwest end. Remnants of a former aisled building can still be seen, including jowled arcade posts with passing braces and a splayed scarf joint with undersquinted abutments. A notable feature is a chamfered spine beam that is supported by an octagonal Samson post.
