Description
This building is a barn, formerly a house, located approximately 5 metres northeast of Slough Farmhouse. It dates from the mid to late 16th century and features weatherboard cladding over a timber frame with a birch plinth and a hipped thatched roof. The barn has a five-bay plan with a central threshing floor and a gabled midstrey to the east, which has been converted to a full-height glazed area.
Inside, the barn displays exposed timber framing, including side girths and halved wall framing, as well as a halved and bridled top plate scarf. There is arch bracing from jowled posts to tie beams, and the crown-post roof is constructed of thin scantling with lateral bracing to the collar purlin. A modern extension to the south is present but is not of special interest.
