TL 6222 GREAT DUNMOW STORTFORD ROAD (N SIDE) 7/86 Rood End House 20.2.6? GV II

Offices, former house, early C19 and earlier, timber framed and plastered, with peg tile gabled roof behind continuous parapet. The early Cl9 front has delicate painted timber cornice and 6 double hung sash windows with moulded surrounds and small panes, over 5 similar windows and off centre doorcase. This has reeded Doric half columns supporting a flat hood and entablature with central horizontal panel and 3 horizontal diamond motifs. All this encloses a semi-circular fanlight with radial lobed glazing bars. 6 panel door with reeded central panes. Single storey, gabled peg tile roofed rendered extension at E end with recessed early C19 door with margin glazing barred fanlight. Also one similar double hung sash. 3 dormers behind parapet with small panes and slightly segmental heads. Very large truncated rear wall, brick stack. C19 rear extension of 2 storeys and slated roof. Interior has good dog leg early C19 staircase.
