Description

60 and 60A West Street is a house dating from the late 17th century. It features red Flemish-bond brickwork and a clay plain tile gabled roof. The southeast gable is made of brick, while the northwest gable has painted weatherboarding.

The building has two storeys, attics, and cellars, with a parapeted front. It includes two hipped-roof dormers that have double-hung sash windows with small panes, and there are two stacks located behind the ridgeline. The street elevation displays a four-window range of flush double-hung sash windows with small panes and flat rubbed brick arches. Above the first-floor window heads, there is a raised brick board.

The off-centre doorcase is adorned with panelled Tuscan pilasters and has a slightly projecting flat hood over a concave curved cornice. The entrance is recessed and features a door with six raised-and-fielded panels and panelled reveals. The rendered plinth includes two cast-iron grille cellar vents and a recessed cast-iron bootscraper.

Inside, the property has contemporary door architraves, panelled walls in the entrance hall, and a timber-arched opening leading to the rear staircase, which is fitted with a Chinese Chippendale handrail. At the back, there are three-storey extensions with an 'M' roof, all covered in black weatherboarding.
