Description

Mannings is a house that dates back to the 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed with a timber frame and plastered exterior, topped with red plain tiled roofs. The house features chimney stacks on both the right and left sides, along with rear wings and extensions. It stands two storeys tall and has a three-window range of small paned vertically sliding sashes. The central entrance consists of a two-panel, four-light door with a moulded surround, diamond mouldings on the fascia, and a flat canopy supported by brackets.

Inside, there are notable features from the 18th and 19th centuries, including vertically and horizontally boarded walls in several rooms, vertically boarded doors with original hand-wrought ironmongery, and a kitchen with a pump that has a "Lion" label. The kitchen also has a brick floor and a very large chimney stack. The front range includes an arch in the hall, a staircase with two turned balusters for each tread, and a moulded fireplace with side cupboards. Additionally, there is a moulded cast iron fire surround with an overmantel and a moulded and lugged fire surround, as well as shutters on the windows. The building also features jowled storey posts and stop-chamfered bridging joists.
