Description
Morses Farmhouse is a house from the 17th century, possibly with earlier origins, that has seen later additions and alterations. It is timber framed and plastered, topped with a red plain tiled roof that has two levels and features red brick chimney stacks on both levels. The building has two storeys and a cellar, with a four-window range of 20th-century vertically sliding sashes that include glazing bars. The entrance is marked by a six-panelled door beneath a moulded flat canopy supported by brackets.
Inside, notable features include jowled storey posts and a side purlin roof that is pegged at the ridge, with cambered collars in the left range and a cambered tie beam. The bridging joists are stop-chamfered, and there is an inglenook fireplace that is now covered in the left range. The stairs are located by the chimney, and there are vertically boarded doors with ironmongery, along with some re-used timber. A bedroom features a 18th-century cast iron basket grate and a raised lug fire surround. An arched brace connects from a storey post to the brick chimney.
