Description
Anchor Cottage, formerly known as Rose Cottage, is a cottage that dates from the 16th or 17th century, with later alterations and additions. It is constructed with a timber frame and weatherboarding, topped with a red plain tiled roof. A plaster chimney stack is located to the left of the right range. The building is one storey with attics, featuring a gable on the left and a dormer on the right range. The windows consist of a 1:1 arrangement of vari-light casements. The central doorway has a moulded surround and features a part-glazed door with glazed margins. At one time, this property served as The Anchor Public House and is documented as The Anchor around 1820. It is also reputed to have clay lump infill between the wall studs.
