Description
Ashes is a house with origins dating from the 15th or 16th century, featuring later additions and alterations, including an early 19th-century facade. The building is timber framed and has ashlar line plastered walls, topped with a red plain tiled roof. It has off-centre left and right red brick chimney stacks and wings at the rear. The house is two storeys high and has a three-window range of three-light diamond leaded casements, each with shutters. There are labels over the ground floor windows. The square enclosed porch has a moulded cornice and a six-panelled door with a light above it and a label. Inside, notable features include heavy chamfered bridging joists, wall studs, and an inglenook fireplace.
