Description

Dale Hall is a house with origins dating from the 15th or 16th century, featuring later alterations and additions. It has a timber-framed structure with a red brick facade and an exposed frame on the left side. The roof is covered with red plain tiles and has hipped forward gables, with lead flashings on both the right and left sides. There are red brick chimney stacks at the rear left and end right. The building has a dentilled eaves cornice and a central band, standing two storeys tall.

The front elevation has a 1:5:1 arrangement of small paned vertically sliding sash windows on the first floor, and a 1:2:1 arrangement on the ground floor, featuring tripartite windows with segmental heads. To the left of the central range, there is a 19th-century red brick porch with a panelled parapet and a four-panel, two-light door. Between the central windows, there is another four-panel, two-light door with a moulded surround, frieze, and flat canopy. The exposed frame on the left (west) return includes an original mullion window and halved bracing. The east wing was rebuilt in the 19th century after it was destroyed by fire during the Corn Riots. Inside, there is a staircase with stick balusters and a wreathed handrail, along with some heavy bridging joists and visible ceiling beams. A large chimney stack features a cambered mantel beam from another location, and there are panelled shutters present.
