Description

ST. OSYTH DALTES LANE TM 1215 15/152 Tan Cottage and The Old Cottage. . ' - II 2 cottages. Early C15 or earlier with later alterations and additions. Timber framed, plastered to left front (Tan Cottage) weatherboarded to right with some painted brick. Red plain tiled roof. 2 red brick chimney stacks to ridge and external right stack. 2 storeys. 9 various window range to first floor, some of those to Tan Cottage original ovolo mullions and small paned horizontal sliding sashes. 8 range to ground floor, again with some original mullions to Tan Cottage. C20 enclosed gabled porch and vertically boarded door to Tan Cottage, C20 door to The Old Cottage. Tan Cottage to left is the original build but there are remains of an earlier building in the right range. Internal features include back-to-back inglenook fireplace, partly restored one side. Heavy timber frame visible with widely spaced wall studs. Halved and bridled top plate scarf, stop chamfered bridging joists and a heavily roll and fillet moulded bridging joist, jowled storey posts and a heavy arched brace to tie beam. Some C18 vertically boarded doors.
