Description
This barn, located approximately 100 metres southwest of Collierswood Farmhouse, dates from the late 18th century but has older origins. It is constructed with a timber frame and weatherboarding, sitting on a red brick plinth, and features a red pantiled roof. Originally, the barn had 10 bays and two gabled midstreys, although one midstrey has since been demolished, leaving the rear doors and front opening intact. An additional four bays were added to the south, resulting in an exceptionally long 19th-century barn with a total of 14 bays.
To the north of the midstrey, there is a small engine house and a four-bay cart lodge, which replaced the demolished midstrey. The barn showcases bracing in the walls, hanging knees supporting the tie beams, and a side purlin ridge board roof. One of the southern bays serves as a stable with a loft above. The floors are made of brick and concrete. There are also later forward ranges on the right and left, featuring red pantiled roofs and a combination of brick and weatherboarding, which were part of the stock yard.
