Description
This barn, located about 30 meters southwest of Cowpasture Farm House, has origins dating back to the 17th century but was largely rebuilt in the late 18th or early 19th century using 16th-century timbers. It features a timber frame that is weatherboarded, rendered, and clad with corrugated sheets, topped by a steeply pitched corrugated sheet roof. The barn consists of five bays and two additional bays, with the five-bay section having a central two-bay midstrey at the rear that has opposed openings. The earlier two bays to the right are open fronted to the rear, and there is an open fronted lean-to attached to the left of the midstrey. One-storey sheds project into the yard from the end bays. Inside, the early bays display arched braces to the tie beams, double butt purlins, and collars to the principal rafters, while the other areas have studding with a mid-rail and straight braces to the tie beams. The barn is included for its group value.
