Description

This barn, located approximately 60 metres southeast of Mucking Hall, dates from the early 17th century and has 18th-century alterations. It is timber framed and covered with weatherboarding, topped by a red pantiled roof. The barn consists of five bays and features a central gabled midstrey. Originally, the structure had arched braces connecting to the tie beams, but these have been replaced with hanging knees, except for the arched braces in the midstrey. The roof is supported by a side purlin ridgeboard, and there are through braces to the walls. Additionally, there are later gault brick and weatherboarded lean-to extensions on either side of the midstrey.
