Description
This barn, located approximately 40 metres east of Frating Hall, dates from the 16th or 17th century and has undergone later repairs and additions. It features a timber frame and is weatherboarded, topped with a red pantiled roof. The northwest side has a gabled midstrey with an outshot to the north, which serves as a granary and includes two pigeon holes in the gable. There is also a gabled midstrey to the east. The barn has six original bays and three additional bays from the 18th or 19th century. It now has hanging knees to the tie beams, whereas it originally featured arched braces in at least seven bays. The roof is primarily a side purlin design, pegged at the ridge, with later queen struts added.
