Description

The Cats is a public house comprising an 18th-century front range and a 19th-century rear range. The front range is timber-framed and plastered with weatherboarded returns, featuring a red plain tiled roof with two gabled dormers. A central square chimney stack rises from the building. A full-length ground floor verandah, covered with red plain tiles and featuring two small gables and six timber supports, extends along the front. The building is one storey high with attics. It has two central ground floor bays, with small paned windows throughout. More recent 20th-century vertically boarded doors, each with a small light, are located on the right and left sides. The rear range is constructed of gault brick and has a red plain tiled roof, with a rear chimney stack. Documentary evidence suggests the building was originally two cottages, each with one ground floor room and one room above.
