Description
This is a barn dating from the 17th to 18th century, located facing Goldsands Road and approximately 120 metres southwest of Southminster Hall. The structure is timber framed and covered with weatherboarding, topped with a red plain tiled roof that has an outshot at the rear on the east side. It features front and rear gabled midstreys and consists of seven bays. The roof is constructed with staggered side purlins and queen posts, which are pegged at the ridge. There are arched braces supporting the tie beams and through bracing on the walls. The top plates have halved and bladed scarfs. Additionally, there is a later loft floor added to the eastern bays.
