Description

This is a barn located approximately 25 metres east of New Hall Farmhouse, dating from the 18th century. It is timber framed and covered with weatherboarding, topped with a roof made of interlocking concrete tiles. The barn consists of five bays arranged roughly east to west, with a midstrey on the north side. There are lean-to extensions on both sides of the midstrey. The structure features a jointed and pegged hardwood frame with heavy studding and primary straight bracing. The wallplates have face-halved and bladed scarfs, and the straight tiebeams are supported by bolted knees. The roof is constructed with joggled butt-purlins.
