Description

Little Braxted Mill and Mill House, including the attached Mill Bridge, is a former water mill and mill house that has been converted into two dwellings. The building dates from the 18th century, with a medieval core and alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is a long structure, with the former mill on the left, which is mainly weatherboarded, while the right side features brick facing on the ground and first floors. There is a weatherboarded lucam with straight timber brace supports on the left return and a red brick chimney stack on the right. The Mill House, located to the right, is built of red brick and has a second bay that projects forward. It has two red brick chimney stacks and stands three storeys tall. The Mill House has a four-window range of small paned vertically sliding sashes, some of which are three lights. The former mill has a four-window range featuring various small paned vertically sliding sashes and two-light casements with glazing bars. The mill has a vertically boarded door, while the Mill House features a four-panel, two-light door with reveal panels, frieze console brackets, and an open pediment with dentilled soffits. Attached to the central red brick wheel arch, which is now blocked, is the red brick road bridge with one arch and semi-circular coping.
