Description

Borrowby Mill comprises two houses, originally a watermill and millhouse, dating from the late 18th century. The building is constructed of red brick and coursed squared stone, with a pantile roof. The former mill section is three storeys high and comprises three bays. The millhouse is two storeys high and also has three bays. The mill has two 20th-century stable doors under lintels with keystones. All windows are three-light side-sliding sashes, except for those to the left and central first-floor bays of the mill, which are 18-pane sashes. The mill features a dentil cornice, raised brick verges and end stacks. The millhouse has a central half-glazed door under a lintel with a keystone. Most windows are four-pane sashes, all with lintels and keystones, with the exception of the central first-floor sash. To the right-hand side of the millhouse is a shaped kneeler and stone coping.
