Description
This barn, located approximately 90 metres northeast of Dengie Manor, dates from the 18th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a hipped red tiled roof. The barn stands two storeys tall and has a cornice band.
The east face of the barn has central pilaster buttresses on the ground floor, with a brick segmental arch between them, which now includes a 20th-century lintel and support columns. To the right, there are three square window openings, and to the left, three 20th-century sliding doors, with the far left door having an original brick segmental arch above it. There is a double loft door to the left, with a brick segmental arch to the right of which is an original three-light window, also with a brick segmental arch.
All faces of the barn feature two upper stages of symmetrically placed four-light vertical ventilators. The roof is a side purlin type, pegged at the ridge.
