Description
No. 25 North Street is a house dating from the early 18th century, with a 19th-century rear outshot and later alterations. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, topped with a red plain tiled roof over the rear outshot. A red brick chimney stack is present, along with a single-storey lean-to extension on the forward left side. The house has two storeys and a cellar, featuring a 1:2 window arrangement of vertically sliding sashes with glazing bars and pentice boards above. The central entrance has a four-panelled door with a moulded surround and a small canopy supported by brackets. Inside, there is through bracing to the walls and a back-to-back inglenook fireplace. The bridging joists are chamfered, and there is a 19th-century moulded cast iron fire surround in the bedroom.
