Description
Black Cottage and Blackwater Cottage are a pair of cottages dating from the 17th or 18th century, with later alterations. They are timber framed, featuring a plastered front, weatherboarded returns, and a weatherboarded rear. The cottages have red plain tiled roofs, with a lower level extension on the left side. There are three red brick chimney stacks. The buildings are two storeys high and have a four-window range of small paned casements. There are 20th-century doors on the left and right returns, and a vertically boarded door in a moulded surround at the rear. The walls include through bracing, and the interior features chamfered bridging joists and exposed ceiling beams.
