Description
Nos 1 and 2 on Witham Road are a pair of cottages dating from the 17th or 18th century. They are constructed with a timber frame and plastered exterior, topped with a red plain tiled roof that has an outshot at the rear. The cottages feature a rear red brick chimney stack with attached square shafts and an external stack to the left. They are two storeys high and have a four-window range of small paned casements. There are modern doors on the right and left, each with pentice boards above. Inside, the cottages have stop-chamfered bridging joists and through bracing to the walls, as well as a segmental arch leading to a red brick fireplace.
