Description
Mill House is now a home for elderly persons and has its origins in the 17th century, with a front range added in the 18th or 19th century. The rear sections of the building are timber framed and have hipped roofs covered in red tiles. The front range is rough rendered and features red brick angle pilasters, two decorative bands, and a moulded and dentilled eaves cornice. It has a hipped roof made of grey slate and a red brick chimney stack with yellow panelled chimney pots on the left side. The building stands three storeys tall and has a three-window range on the first and second storeys, featuring small paned vertically sliding sash windows, with the first floor windows being tripartite. On the ground floor, there are 18th-century bow windows on both the right and left sides, which have moulded capitals and bases surrounding the windows and their mullions. The central door is half glazed, flanked by side margins and has a lower panel, with pilasters that have moulded capitals and bases, all set beneath a round-headed arch made of red brick with a keystone. To the left, there is a single-storey extension with a hipped red tiled roof. The property is enclosed by bowed railings that include double and single gates, with quarter and full height rails topped with ornate arrow heads. Inside, notable features include stick balusters on the staircase and panelled doors with moulded architraves. The building has good group value with the Mill and the Church.
