Description

These are two stone cottages, located on Little Laver Road in Little Laver. The buildings date from the late 15th century, originally a small open hall house, and were significantly altered in the 18th and 19th centuries. The original timber frame and plaster are now covered in flint, with red brick dressings. The roof is covered in grey slate. The cottages are one storey high with attics. They have a three-window front with 20th-century casement windows set in 19th-century openings. A gabled dormer is visible. A 19th-century extension is located at the rear, and red brick chimney stacks are present.

Inside, much of the original timber frame remains, including jowled storey posts, arch braced and cambered tiebeams, and stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops. The roof was re-roofed in the early 19th century above the top plates. A late 16th-century chimney stack is centrally located, partly rebuilt in the 19th century. A floor was inserted into the centre bay in the 16th century. A decorative iron pump from the 19th century is situated at the rear.
