Description

These cottages date from the 17th century and were altered in the 19th century. They are timber-framed, with the front facing gault brick. A lower extension, known as The Little House, is built of flint with brick dressings. The roofs are thatched, except for the extension's roof which is tiled. The cottages are arranged in an L-shape and are single-storey with an attic.

The street facade is symmetrical. It features two modern metal windows with cambered skewback arches, and two partly glazed panelled doors also beneath cambered skewback arches. There are two gabled dormers with shaped barge boards and casement windows with glazing bars. A 17th-century chimney stack projects from the roof, featuring a sawtooth profile and a hipped roof angle. The lateral facade has a symmetrical three-bay arrangement, with one early 19th-century horizontal sash window containing small panes and one later casement window with glazing bars, both under cambered arches. A central partly glazed door is present, along with two dormers similar to those on the street facade. Another gable-end stack is visible.

Inside, some bridging roof joists are shaped with an ovolo mould.
