Description
The Old Bakery is a house dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with 19th and 20th-century extensions. It features a pebble dash timber frame and a plain tile roof with gabled ends. There are rendered brick axial and gable end stacks. The building has a three-room plan that runs at right angles to the road, with a direct entry into the front of the center room, which is heated by an axial stack located between it and the left end room. The left (north) room has a lower ground floor level. There are 19th-century outshuts at the rear and in front of the left end room. The house is two storeys high and has an overall three-window range, with the left window in a single-storey outshut. The windows are three-light casements with horizontal glazing bars. The doorway is located to the right of the center and features a 20th-century door. The main roof extends down as a catslide over a continuous outshut at the rear. Inside, the soft-wood timber framing of the walls, partitions, joists, and ceiling beams is exposed. The center room includes a chamfered cross-beam and a brick fireplace with a cambered arch.
