Description
41 Sun Street is a building originally from the 16th century that was remodeled in the 18th century, with alterations made to the front in the late 19th century. The exterior is finished in whitewashed pebbledash and features a hipped roof covered in both old and machine-made tiles. The building has two storeys and attics.
The east front includes three flush sash windows with glazing bars. There is a central flush panel door topped with a dummy fanlight, which is framed by an open pediment supported by consoles and slim pilasters. Additionally, there are two late 19th-century box casement dormers. The ground floor shows some weatherboarding, and the structure is timber-framed with exposed timbers visible inside.
On the first floor, there is a pointed arched chamfered doorway. Recent exposure of additional timbers has revealed a three-bay structure with tie beams and curved bracing, suggesting that it may have been the hall of a substantial building.
