Description
This milestone, dating from the late 18th century, is made of limestone and is located on the west side of Goldings Hill, opposite Gregson's Ride. The flat surface facing northeast is inscribed with 'London 13', while the flat surface facing southeast is inscribed with 'Epping 3'. An inclined facet above bears the inscription 'Loughton Parish'. The milestone has a rounded back and top and is situated approximately 2.5 meters from the western kerb of Goldings Hill, in light woodland. This road, previously known as Golden's Hill, was opened by the Epping and Ongar Highway Trust in 1775.
