Description

Crabb's Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century or earlier, with extensions made in the 20th century. It features a timber frame, primarily plastered, with some areas of weatherboarding, and is roofed with handmade red clay tiles. The main part of the house is a hall range, single storey with attics, consisting of two bays aligned approximately northwest to southeast, and has an axial chimney stack located southeast of the center. At the southeast end, there is a two-storey crosswing. A 19th-century lean-to extension is located at the northwest end, which is roofed with red clay pantiles. Additionally, there is a 20th-century range that runs parallel to the hall range on its northeast side.

On the southwest elevation, there is a plain boarded door in the lean-to extension, a 20th-century door in a tiled lean-to porch, one 20th-century casement window, and one 20th-century bay window with leaded casements. On the first floor, there is one 20th-century leaded casement window in a hipped dormer and one 20th-century casement window in the crosswing. Access to the property is limited. Inside the crosswing, there are jowled corner posts and heavy studding, with tension braces to the corner posts at first floor level only, featuring reversed curvature inside the studding. The joists are unchamfered and have a vertical section.
