Description
Brook House is a house that dates from the 17th century or earlier and has been altered in the 20th century. It is timber framed and plastered, with a thatched roof. The main range has three bays and is aligned approximately north-south, featuring an axial chimney stack at the south end and an external chimney stack at the north end. There is a two-bay crosswing to the south and a single-storey extension to the south that was added in the 20th century. A lean-to porch at the south end of the hall creates a catslide roof and faces east. The crosswing has two storeys, while the rest of the house is single storey with attics. On the ground floor, there are four casement windows, one of which is probably from the 18th century, while the others are from the 20th century. The first floor features three 20th-century casement windows, two of which are located in gabled dormers. All windows have 20th-century diamond leading. The main chimney stack has two diagonal shafts, and the date 1578 is inscribed in modern plaster in the gable of the crosswing.
