Description
Locksmith's Farmhouse is a house dating from the 16th century, with alterations made in the 18th century. It features a timber-framed structure that is plastered and roofed with handmade red clay tiles. The main range has three bays facing east, with an axial stack located in the middle bay, creating a lobby entrance. To the right is a three-bay crosswing, which is an independent structure that includes a 19th-century internal stack at the rear. There is an 18th-century extension to the left, which has an internal stack at the end. At the back of the main range, there is a single-storey extension with a catslide roof.
The house stands two storeys tall. On the ground floor, there are three early 19th-century sash windows with 16 lights, along with one imitation window that is painted on the plaster of the crosswing. The first floor features three similar windows and one with 12 lights, as well as a similar imitation window. The entrance includes a six-panel door with the top panels glazed, set in a simple doorcase with a shallow hood supported by twin moulded brackets. A wooden parapet runs along the front and extends approximately one metre at the sides. Inside, the building has jowled posts, axial beams with lamb's tongue stops, and plain joists with a horizontal section.
