Description
Abbot's Farmhouse is a house dating from the 16th century, with alterations made in the 18th century. It is timber framed, plastered, and has a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The main part of the house has three bays and faces northeast, with a two-bay crosswing to the right. There is a 16th-century axial stack at the junction of the main range and crosswing, and an 18th-century internal stack in the right wall of the crosswing. The house has two storeys.
On the ground floor, there is one early 19th-century sash window with 16 lights and two 20th-century casement windows. On the first floor, there are three 20th-century sashes and one 20th-century casement. There are also two four-panel doors, each with a simple canopy above. Both roofs are hipped.
Inside, the farmhouse features jowled posts, heavy studding, and chamfered beams. The roofs have been rebuilt in the 18th century, with new ridges and hips.
