Description
The barn located to the north-west of Boxted Hall is a 18th-century structure that is timber framed and covered in black weatherboarding. It consists of seven bays with two midstreys, both of which are hipped. The main roof is fly-hipped, and all roofs are clad with corrugated asbestos. The barn has red brick Flemish-bond footings. Inside, there are no jowls, and the side-girts and primary bracing are positioned over the girts, with one per bay. There are hanging-knees at both penultimate tie-beams and straight arch-braces on either side of the midstreys. Wagon doors are located opposite the midstreys and beneath the side-girts. The roof features lapped collars and side-purlins.
