Description

This is an 18th-century timber-framed house which has been converted into two separate dwellings. The house is located on the north side of St John’s Green in Writtle. It has a small, hipped roof projection at each end of the front facade. The house is two storeys high with an attic space. The front elevation has a 1:2:1 window arrangement, featuring double-hung sash windows with glazing bars. Two four-panel doors, each with a small tiled pent roof supported by brackets, provide access. The roof is tiled and hipped, with two hipped dormers, each containing a double-hung sash window with glazing bars. Modern additions are present at the rear of the building. The listed buildings along St John’s Green form a notable group.
