Description

Appleby Cottage is an 18th-century timber-framed and plastered house located on the east side of The Green in Hartest. The building is one storey high with attics and features a two-window range, with 20th-century casements set in the original openings, complete with cornices and louvred shutters. The central doorway is framed by a moulded wood architrave and is sheltered by a Victorian porch that has a swept lead-covered canopy supported by posts. The roof is tiled with old tiles and has a mansard design, featuring two gabled dormers. Additionally, there is a timber-framed and weatherboarded structure at the south end, which was formerly an outbuilding but has been converted into a modern separate dwelling.
