Description
The former barn at the east edge of the yard to the former Barnes farmhouse is a 16th-century structure. It features a five-bay design that is timber framed and weather-boarded, with one aisle along the eastern side. The roof is hipped and has a gabled midstrey, which is now covered with corrugated asbestos. The barn's framing is of high quality, showcasing jowled main posts and passing braces in the aisle. The roof is arch-braced and includes queen posts, side purlins, and wind bracing in the pitch plane. The joints are scarfed using long edge-halved and bridle-butted techniques.
