Description

Former Barnes Farmhouse is a late 16th century house that was re-faced and styled during the reign of William and Mary. It is timber-framed with stuccoed elevations. The west front elevation features a parapet and a central bay that is set forward, topped with a moulded pediment. A moulded cornice runs the full width at the eaves level. The façade has six pairs of vertically hung six-pane sash windows arranged symmetrically. The two windows in the central bay include mullions and marginal sashes with two panes. The roofs are complex, hipped, and covered with peg tiles, forming an E-plan. There are three chimney stacks placed irregularly. The north door dates back to the early 16th century and has hollow chamfered fillets, a four-centred head, and strap hinges.
