Description
Threshers is an early 16th-century house originally framed in timber, now rough cast with marked external panels. The central front door features a heavy wooden case and a pediment supported by consoles. There is a range of three sash windows on both storeys, with a blind semi-circular fanlight above the pediment. The roof is ridged, hipped, and covered with peg tiles, topped by a pilastered red brick chimney stack located near the center of the ridge. The eaves and troughing are also present.
Inside, the chimney stack and first floor of the hall are later 16th-century additions, and the floor joists have haunched tenons. The original plan was in a T shape, with a cross-wing at the north end. The south cross-wing was added during the later 16th century. The roof of the original cross-wing retains an octagonal crown post, while the hall's roof was rebuilt in the 17th century, and the south wing features an Elizabethan braced side-purlin roof.
