Description
The Former Chaplain's House at HM Prison, built around 1860, now serves as offices. This building features stucco over brick with a hipped slate roof and is designed in the Regency style. It stands three storeys tall and has a symmetrical three-window façade. The entrance consists of panelled double doors framed by a moulded architrave. The windows include horned 16-pane sashes on the lower floors and 8-pane sashes on the second floor, all set within eaved architraves. The side elevations are similarly designed with two bays, and there is a three-bay addition at the rear. Inside, the house boasts moulded plaster cornices, a dog-leg staircase with stick balusters, and moulded newels. This building was originally the Chaplain's house for HM Prison, Springfield Road, which was constructed in 1828.
