Barn Approximately 20 Metres South West Of Home Farmhouse

This is a barn located approximately 20 metres south-west of Home Farmhouse, dating from the 16th century. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, with a roof made of corrugated asbestos. The barn has five bays aligned northeast to southwest, featuring two aisles and a midstrey on the northwest side. There is a lean-to extension at the northeast end. The structure includes jowled posts and heavy studding with curved braces that are trenched to the inside. Arched braces support the arcade plates and tiebeams, although some have been replaced with straight braces. The arcade plates and wallplates have edge-halved and bridled scarfs. The roof is a clasped purlin type with intermediate collars at half-bay intervals and arched wind-bracing. The midstrey was added in the 17th or 18th century.
