Description

Hill Farmhouse is a house that dates from the late 16th century and was altered in the 19th century. It features a timber frame, is plastered, and has a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The late 16th-century section includes a two-bay crosswing that juts out to the northeast, while to the southeast, there is an early 19th-century parallel range with a central stack and a staircase hall between the two sections. There is also a single-storey lean-to extension to the southeast, which has a slate roof.

To the northwest of the crosswing, there is a service wing of uncertain date, with a catslide roof at the front and an internal stack at the junction. The building has two storeys. On the ground floor, there is one early 19th-century sash window with 16 lights and three 19th-century sashes with four lights each. The first floor has two similar sash windows. There is a door located at the rear. The late 19th-century brackets are found below the jetty, and both front gables and the right gable feature cusped bargeboards.

Inside, the structure is mainly plastered, hiding much of the framework. The late 16th-century crosswing has exposed moulded beams above the first floor. The service wing to the right has a softwood roof, but the lower parts of this section may date back earlier. The early 19th-century staircase has turned newels and stick balusters.
