Description
This building is a barn located 55 metres north-west of Cresley's Farmhouse, dating from the early 17th century. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, with a thatched roof featuring valleys of handmade red plain tiles. The barn consists of five bays aligned northeast-southwest, with an original two-bay midstrey situated to the southeast of the second bay from the northeast end. There is a 19th-century byre extending southeast from the southwest end, primarily constructed of red brick, partly weatherboarded, and roofed with red clay pantiles. Additionally, there is a 19th or 20th-century stable range to the northwest, made of red brick and also roofed with red clay pantiles. The barn features jowled posts, arched braces set inside close studding, face-halved and bladed scarfs in the wallplates, and arched braces to the tiebeam that have been replaced by bolted knees. It also has a clasped purlin roof with arched wind-braces.
