Description

Nos 8 and 10 Lower Holt Street are a pair of attached cottages, now functioning as one house, built in 1811. The structure features painted brick with some areas of plastered timber framing and is topped with handmade red plain tiles. It faces northwest and includes a rear wing with a gambrel roof at the right end, along with a single-storey lean-to extension at the rear of the left end. The building is one storey high with attics.

The front has four early 20th-century casements and one late 20th-century casement in an enlarged opening. No. 8 features two late 20th-century casements in lean-to dormers, while No. 10 has one early 20th-century casement and one 19th-century horizontal sash window with eight lights in lean-to dormers. No. 8 has a door opening that has been blocked with brickwork, whereas No. 10 has a half-glazed four-panel door. The gambrel roof is a notable feature. Alterations were reported to be in progress as of April 1986. The cottages are included for their group value.
