Description
Chandlers is a house dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of rendered brick and features gault brick stacks, topped with a roof made of handmade red plain tiles. The building has a square plan that faces southeast, positioned at right angles to the street. There are single-storey extensions added to the rear in the 19th century and small lean-to extensions from the 20th century on the left side towards the street. The house is two storeys high and has a three-window range of early 19th-century sashes, each with 12 lights, along with one splayed bay of sashes on the ground floor. A central porch with a trellised design and a slated gabled roof is present at the front. The roof is hipped and has a U-plan shape. Notably, a window has been cut through an external stack on the street elevation. Inside, there are 17th-century internal doors and a side-purlin roof.
