Description

Pelham Hall is a farmhouse that dates from the early to mid-16th century, with elements from the 17th century and around 1840. It is timber framed and plastered, standing two storeys high with peg tile roofs. The building consists of two parallel ranges, with a lower service wing extending to the rear from the northwest corner.

The front range features a gabled peg tile roof with gable end stacks and a small off-centre ridgeline stack. On the south front, the first floor has two double hung sash windows with a single vertical glazing bar and moulded surrounds. Between these windows is an oval window with leaded lights. The ground floor has two square bay windows, each with paired double hung sash windows, connected by a lean-to verandah roof of peg tiles with hipped ends. In the centre, there is a door with moulded architraves and small panes.

The rear 17th-century range has a hipped roof with a gablet on the west side and is gabled to the east. The rear wing is also gabled and connects to the hipped roof of the main 17th-century block, which features an off-centre ridgeline stack and a two-storey square bay window with leaded lights. The rear parallel block and service wing exhibit good timber framing, with some storey posts having jowls on each storey, decorated with moulded and chamfered details. The roof structure includes crown posts with very thin bracing.
