Description

Park Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century, with alterations from the 19th century. It is constructed of timber framing and plaster, topped with a shallow-pitched slated roof from the 19th century. The building has two storeys and an attic, featuring a main range with a two-cell cross-wing to the right. There are various casement windows, some dating from the 18th century, and a 19th-century four-panel door located in the gable end of the wing. An internal stack is positioned at the junction of the two sections, with a cement-rendered shaft. Flat-roofed additions are present on each side of the wing.

Inside, some structural elements are exposed, including plain studding and joists set flat, with heavier joists on the ground floor of the wing, likely reused. The chamber at the front of the wing is open to the roof and contains two blocked diamond-mullioned windows with separate lintels. The chamber in the main range features significant remains of early 17th-century painted decoration above a former fireplace, showcasing a symmetrical design in grey paint outlined in red, with two enriched arches, which is an unusual survival. There is an oak newel stair with two flights and several 17th-century internal doors. The roof retains most of the original rafters and purlins.
