Description

4 and 6 Church Street is likely a house dating from the late 16th century, which was re-roofed and altered in the early 19th century. It is two storeys high with cellars, and has a four-window front. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars, set within flush casings. Each doorway has a pedimented hood supported by brackets. The front facade features 20th-century pargetted decoration. The roof is covered in slate. The building forms a group with the White Horse Public House (No. 2), Nos. 18, 20-30 (even), the Smithy, the Parish Church of St Nicholas, the Vicarage, No. 35 (Barnardiston), and Nos. 43-55 (odd) Chippinghill.
