Description
May Cottage is a cottage dating from the 18th century. It has a timber frame, is plastered, and has a roof made of asbestos tiles. The building consists of two bays positioned at right angles to the road, facing south, with a chimney stack located at the right end. There is an early 19th-century extension at the back and an early 20th-century lean-to extension to the rear. The cottage is one storey high with attics, while the extension is also one storey. It features six 20th-century casement windows and an additional casement window in a gabled dormer. The front has a door set within a 20th-century gabled porch. Inside, there are chamfered axial beams, exposed joists and framing, and one panel of hazel wattle exposed in the rear wall, along with original board doors.
